Michael J. Nelson
I grew up in South Minneapolis with my parents and two brothers. After finishing high school I worked as a blackjack dealer at Mystic Lake for a number of years. I then moved to Reno, Nevada, where I dealt craps and blackjack on the graveyard shift at The Silver Legacy hotel, while getting my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Nevada, Reno. In 1999, I moved back home, and earned my DDS at the University of Minnesota Dental School. After graduation, I participated in a 1 year residency at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis. After completing my residency, I became an associate at a group practice in Plymouth, where I worked for 3 years. In 2008, I purchased my current practice from Dr. Allan Garvis, where I am now with the most talented, friendly, and knowledgeable staff I have ever worked with.
I currently live in Savage with my wife Cheryl, daughter Jayden, and son Rowan. I enjoy spending time with family, fishing, campfires, and the occasional round of golf. I am a Star Wars enthusiast and enjoy building increasingly larger jigsaw puzzles. I consider myself very fortunate to have found a career which blends the disciplines of art, chemistry, biology, and interpersonal relations, which I thoroughly enjoy.
My main focus has always been to deliver competent, informative, and comfortable dentistry. I look forward to meeting you and your whole family.
